cultural norms of the target language while retaining some"strangeness"in the original. It can be seen that domestication translationmainly follows the current mainstream values of the target culture andputs the reader at the core of the target culture, taking full account of thereader's cultural background, information acceptance psychology andacceptance habits.Eugene Nida is a representative of domesticatedtranslation. He believes that "translation is communication, and theprocess depends on what people get when they listen, speak and read thetranslated text."Judging the effectiveness of a translation should not belimited to the comparison of the corresponding lexical meanings, grammatical categories and rhetorical devices. It is important to examinethe extent to which the recipient correctly understands and appreciates thetranslated text.Nida believes that successful translation is to make thetarget readers produce similar reactions to the source readers.Anddomestication translation can help readers better understand the originaltext and avoid cultural conflicts,so as to achieve the purpose of culturalexchange. The premise of foreignization translation is that culture isdifferent.Translators who advocate alienation can not only alienate themeans of expression in the target language, but also choose foreign textsthat challenge the norms of foreign literature in the targetlanguage.Lawrence Venuti himself is the representative of foreignizationtranslation. He put forward the concept of "anti-translation".This kind oftranslation intends to highlight the "difference"of the original text in styleand other aspects in the target text.Lawrence Venuti declared publicly:"The aim is to develop a translation theory and practice to resist thedominant trend of target culture thus highlighting the differences betweenlanguage and culture in the text.4 Xu Yuanchong and Zhu Manhua'sTranslation Strategies of Li Yu's Ci-poemBoth Xu Yuanchong andZhu Manhua have translated Selected Ci by Li Yu.It is interesting to notethat their translations were published ten years apart. In recent years, scholars at home and abroad have a strong interest in Chinese poetry.Ihope this part of the content can be a reference for further understandingLi Yu and his ci-poems.This chapter mainly contains three parts:XuYuanchong's domestication in Translation,Zhu Manhua's foreignizationanddomesticationinTranslation.4.1Xu Yuanchong'DomesticationinTranslationDomestication refers mainly to the target language or the target reader asthe main destination of the translated articles.Expressions tend to be morenatural, while incorporating source language behavioral patterns intotranslation reading as much as possible. The cultural category of humanbeings. The translation strategy of domestication is to adopt a transparentand fluent style to reduce the strangeness of foreign readers.4.11AmplificationAmplification refers to the addition of words.shortsentences or sentences in translation according to the different ways ofthinking, language habits and expressions in English and Chinese so as toexpress the meaning contained in the original text more accurately.波中得自由.Upon the endless waves with full freedom I float..胭脂泪,留人醉,几时重?Your rouged tears like crimson rain/Will keep medrink in woe. When shall we meet again?/The stream of life with endlessgrief will overflow. The first sentence of"I float"is an obvious addition tothe translation, adding subject and predicate, which conforms to theEnglish syntactic norms and makes the sentence more complete.Put "Ifloat"at the end and rhyme with "boat"in the previous sentence.Thesecond sentence translates the noun phrase of "like crimson rain"into acomplete sentence. The image of "like crimson rain"writes the color ofrouge, but rouge is unique to China, which may make it difficult forforeign readers to understand why crimson's tears are left.Tears arecompared to rainwater, which rhymes skillfully with the "again"behindthem.4.12 ParaphraseParaphrase is a term of translation method, whichuses the target language to explain the meaning of a word in the sourcelanguage.别来春半,触目愁肠断.Spring has half gone since we twoparted;/I can see nothingnow but broken-hearted..凭栏半日独无言,依I旧竹声新月似当年.I lean./Alone on rails for long without a word,/As in thebygone years the crescent moon is seen/And songs of flute are heard.Thefirst line of "is an exaggeration to express great sadness.Applyingthe same rhetoric to express the same meaning in English is synonymous
