Study on English Translation of FujianSnack Names from Cross-CulturalPerspective跨文化视角下福建小吃名称的翻译研究Fujian is located in the southeastern China,Fujian becomes the famous dieteticculture circle by its superior geographical location and climate influence,which givesbirth to the one of the eight cuisines of Fujian cuisine and the Fujian snacks that isfamous at home and abroad.Fujian snacks have a long history,a wide variety,andunique taste,to stand out from all the local snacks,there are a lot of people to favoritethe Fujian snack.With the increasingly close exchanges between China and foreigncountries,more and more people come to China to invest,travel and study.In order tomake foreign friends to enjoy the delicacy food and to understand the special snackand the connotation of local culture,it is important to provide a reasonable translationfor the snacks.However,the name of Fujian snacks is rich and colorful,and some are full ofdeep cultural connotation,which bring great difficulty to the translation work.In thetranslation process,once the translation of snack name is improper that will oftenmakes foreigners and the English lover of Chinese people to puzzle.At present,thereis little research on the translation of the snack name.In order to understand thespecific situation of English translation of Fujian snack.The paper through study theFujian snack and analyze the case of the translation of Fujian snack,trying to practicein English translation of Fujian special snacks from the cross-cultural perspective,tofind out the problems of English translation and causes for English translation ofFujian snack names by collecting a large number of translation examples,aiming atthe problems of the translation of Fujian snack name,and puts forward thestandardized translation strategies,in order to improve the translation quality ofFujian snack name and provide a reference to the translation of other regional specialsnack,so that make foreign friends can understand Fujian snacks and the culture inbetter and carried forward.Key Words:Fujian snack;translation strategies;Culture Communication摘要福建位于中国东南部,其优越的地理位置以及气候的影响形成了著名的福建饮食文化圈,从而催生了全国八大菜系之一的闽菜以及闻名于海内外的福建小吃。福建小吃历史悠久,品种繁多,口味独特,在众地方小吃中脱颖而出,得到广大人民群众的喜爱。随着中外交往的日益密切,来中国投资,旅游和学习的外国人也越来越多。为了让外国人在享受美食的同时,更好地了解福建当地的特色小吃及小吃的文化内涵,最重要的是为这些小吃提供合理的翻译。然而福建小吃的名称丰富多彩,有些还充满了深厚的文化内涵,这就给翻译工作带来了很大的难度。在翻译过程中,一旦翻译不当,往往让外国人甚至是爱好英语的中国人百思不得其解。目前,以小吃名称的翻译为对象进行学术研究的还很少。面对此种现状,为进一步具体了解福建特色小吃的英译现状,本文通过对福建小吃的研究以及对福建小吃英译的案例分析,并在跨文化视角下尝试对福建特色小吃进行英译实践,通过搜集大量的翻译实例,找出福建小吃名称翻译存在的问题和造成的原因,针对福建小吃名称翻译的问题,提出相应的规范化的翻译策略,旨在提高福建小吃名称的翻译质量,并为其他地域的特色小吃翻译研究工作提供参考,从而让外国友人能更快更好地了解福建小吃以及小吃的文化并将其发扬光大。关键词:福建小吃:翻译策略:文化传播
